About the Artist

Parvati

In a small village in Karnataka, surrounded by corn fields, Parvati from Parva Handicrafts invented a craft that didn't exist before: turning corn husk, the part everyone throws away, into beautiful handmade products.

She started alone with a few tools and spent four years experimenting. Today she leads a team of 15 women from her community. Working with Zwende, she says, helped her achieve in 15 days what had taken four years on her own.

At this workshop, you'll learn her craft first-hand and turn humble corn husk into a string of glowing fairy lights, and take home a piece of festive décor you made yourself.
