About the Artist
Master artisan Anjanappa from Nimmalkunta, Andhra Pradesh, is a keeper of Tholu Bommalata, a 2,500-year-old shadow puppetry tradition. Passed down through generations, this intricate craft uses hand-carved leather puppets to tell mesmerizing stories through light and shadow.
Leading and mobilizing a community of 70 families, Anjanappa works to keep this ancient art alive. Together, they’ve created a stunning collection of over 200 unique SKUs of lamps and fairylights, including vibrant, colorful designs inspired by traditional puppet shows and monochromatic artworks for contemporary spaces.
Their signature lamps glitter beautifully when lit, capturing the essence of the ancient performances while illuminating modern-day homes with heritage and artistry.
