About the Artist

Sindhe Siva

Sindhe Siva Leather Puppetry, based in Nimmalakunta, Andhra Pradesh, is a family-run enterprise steeped in tradition. Guided by his father, a state awardee, Siva has mastered the intricate art of leather puppetry at a young age. He is a celebrated master of Tholu Bommalata, the 2,500-year-old shadow puppetry tradition that uses hand-painted leather puppets to tell mesmerizing stories through light and shadow.

Employing over 15 skilled artisans, his enterprise creates colourful puppets, vibrant artworks & contemporary lamps. Siva's mission extends beyond crafting; he is committed to empowering the artisan community, preserving this centuries-old tradition, and ensuring its relevance in a modern world.
