The artisans behind Wire Kadai come from marginalised communities, including weavers with disabilities, many of whom are taking their first steps toward steady, dignified livelihoods through this craft. Through fair wages, consistent work, and continuous upskilling in new techniques, Wire Kadai is not just reviving the art of Koodai weaving — but is creating sustainable income, confidence, and long-term empowerment for its artisans.

Koodais are inherently sustainable. They are durable, washable, and made to be used again and again — a conscious alternative to fast-fashion bags. Each piece is handcrafted in small batches, never mass-produced, with care taken at every loop and knot.
