Bamboo Artisan Socio-Economic Upliftment Initiative (Baansuli), is also a combination of two words i.e. Baans means “Bamboo “and Hansuli is “A jewellery pattern“, so Baansuli is jewellery made from Bamboo, is a social enterprise which economically empowers the group of tribal artisans making handcrafted contemporary bamboo jewellery, bamboo home décor and bamboo rakhi in District of Dangs, Gujarat. Baansuli aims to provide the tribal of Dangs a regular source of income and stop seasonal migration by providing them livelihood opportunities. They specialize in uniquely handcrafted bamboo Jewellery, Rakhis, and home decor made from a locally sourced variety of Manvel bamboo, here in Dangs. All the products undergo quality checks for appearance after wash and colorfastness. The bamboo used for the purpose undergoes Chemical Preservation Treatment for durability and protection against organic decay. The methodology adopted under the objective is of community inclusive designing. The aim is to create authentic and contemporary designs. These intricately designed handcrafted products are extremely lightweight and affordable.
Jewellery

Saloni is a lawyer turned social entrepreneur. She did her graduation from Delhi University with an LL.B. from Banaras Hindu University. After working in a law firm as an Associate Advocate in Delhi for more than a year, she joined the SBI Youth for India fellowship where she spent 13 months in the rural area of Dangs. She started Baansuli as a project during her fellowship.

BAANSULI specializes in uniquely handcrafted bamboo jewellery, home decor and now launching Bamboo rakhis are made from locally sourced variety of Manvel bamboo, here in Dangs by a group of tribal artisans. She has won 3M CII Young innovator challenge Award under Rural Category in 2018 and Best start-up award under sustainable livelihood category by Ministry of rural development and NIRD Hyderabad in 2019. She was also a top 18 social innovator at NSCI PIC in 2018. Recently she made it into the list of Forbes 30 under 30 Asia. Saloni loves to meet new people and is a keen learner. Her desire and aspiration do to something for the community at large have given her the courage to break the stereotype rules and even change in her field of career.
